The 60-30-10 rule comes from interior design: 60% dominant colour, 30% secondary, 10% accent. It creates visual harmony while maintaining contrast.

Dominant (60%)

This is your surface colour ÔÇö backgrounds, cards, containers. It should be relatively neutral because it covers most of the screen.

Secondary (30%)

Navigation backgrounds, sidebars, subtle dividers. It provides variation without visual noise.

Accent (10%)

This is where your brand lives. CTAs, highlights, active states. Used sparingly, it signals importance. Used too liberally, it loses meaning. The scarcity is the point.
